Postcard of a woodland scene with a little water in the foreground. In the middle of the shot on the grass is a geometric composition of what looks like white metal tubing.

Following on from the last graduate postcard, this is another that caught my eye. Perhaps arrogantly, it’s more of an image that does feel familiar and the kind I’ve wished about creating in the past, but I didn’t!

Ideas in the minds eye are nice and all, but actually doing the work and making ideas real is worth a million pieces of locked up imagination.

The thing I love here is setting something in a scene that’s so clearly out of place. Either element here on its own would make for a fairly standard photo. Nice enough, but just so. The combination creates the intrigue and causes questions, and perhaps even a little discomfort.

I like to imagine this is actually some kind of fungus or mycorrhizal network. Or an ultra unimaginable alien life form crawling through the woods. Having random ideas triggered like this makes me happy.

It also makes me think of the awesome Scavengers Reign, which I’ve just learned might not get a second season. Which now has made me sad.

Ups and downs.
